Welcome to the first River Kids blog!

This is totally new to us and we thought long and hard about what first blog topic should be and we decided on……fundraising.

Fundraising to us isn’t about just collecting donations; it’s about driving change, creating awareness, and fostering a sense of community.

Annual Duck Race

In 2021 we resurrected our annual Duck Race which takes place at Holmes Park in Broxburn. Named after a much loved employee who sadly passed away the Theresa McGuire Duck Race and Fun Day has grown into a family day out that brings the community together and raising much needed funds for the charity.

Charity Fundraising Ball

Another fundraising event we organise is our Charity Fundraising Ball which take place each year in September. This year our ball is being held at Almondvale Stadium on the 27th September and similar to previous years we will see a mixture of our supporters, referrers and corporate partners put on their glad rags enjoy a three course meal and then put on their dancing shoes until the wee small hours.

Edinburgh Kilt Walk

One fundraising event we will be attending this year is the Edinburgh Kiltwalk. Kiltwalk is Scotland’s largest mass participation walking event with over 145,000 people taking part since 2016. The kind-hearted Kiltwalk community have taken big strides for charities close to their hearts and together with The Hunter Foundation, have managed to raise a staggering £42.5 million to date. All funds raised have been distributed to 3,330 Scottish Charities

Why don’t you get your kilt and walking shoes on and join us on the day? More details about raising funds for us can be found here https://thekiltwalk.co.uk/charity

Our Supporters’ Creative Fundraising Efforts

Fundraising isn’t just about events that we organise or attend but also about the great work that our supporters do in organising their own events. We have had Mikey shave his long locks, Hayley organise a day of entertainment at Whitburn Juniors and Cara & Olivia raising funds via their “Breakfast Bar”.

We appreciate every single penny raised by our fundraisers as it helps achieve our goals of supporting disadvantaged children in West Lothian.
